Hello Nydia, this blog post is especially for you :))

First of all, I want to say congratulations for your wedding -- hey, you're the first among us! You're still so young, yet you have made the brave decision to start & commit to a new life with Dustin. I really admire you!!

Okay, now comes the apology. I'm very sorry I couldn't make it to your wedding.. Don't be mad. I really wanted to come. In fact, I was already on my way! But due to my sloppy preparations, a very bad weather at Depok, a major miscommunication with my dad, and the unfortunate heavy traffic surrounding central jakarta (ada jakarta fair..)......I couldn't make it. I know the descriptions too vague, but that's the truth. I'll tell you the details if you'd like

I was already at Cikini station. Just a few kilometers away from you, but it was already almost 9 PM. So with a very heavy heart, I turned back to Depok. I didn't get to give you my congrats & hug in person.

But here it is!

If you're wondering why there's so much white space in it, it's because it is supposed to be for other friends to write in it :'( Benita, Iput, Icil.. Well but I didn't make it, so... #fail

Nydia, I really regretted not being able to go to your wedding reception. I wanted to give you a big hug. When are you flying back to Canada? I haven't even heard your side of story, like how you met Dustin, how's life over there, and so on... I'm looking towards to it if you're willing to tell :) I'm all ears!

plastic scare

2 tahun genap gw ngekost di depok. Pindah kostan baru 1x, itupun cuma pindah kamar sebenernya. Gedungnya beda tapi kostnya masih sama. Dan...selama dua tahun hidup gw di depok, kamar gw selalu melalui siklus yang sama: Berantakan - Rapi - Berantakan - Rapi - dst

Okay, jadi pada suatu hari yang indah tanggal 5 bulan 5 tahun 2014, gw beberes kost lagi. Kali ini fokus gw adalah: ngebuang barang yang tidak berguna.

A hoarder, according to urbandictionary.com, is

"A word that describes anyone that feels the need to find,

collect, keep, pack ANY and EVERYTHING because they

do not know how to throw things away."

Chill, I'm not like any of those extreme ones like in the pics.

Yah singkat kata, gw punya kesulitan untuk membuang barang-barang. Setiap kali ada barang yang udah ga terpakai, selalu gw pikir bahwa seenggaknya ini masih bisa didaur ulang lah, dipake buat lain kesempatan lah, dan sebagainya. Meskipun itu adalah barang bekas, barang udah rusak, dsb..

So, pada hari itu, ternyata sampah gw nyampe seember loh .___. Mostly consisting of plastic bottles and cardboard boxes from product packaging. Tapi yang bikin gw ngeri bukan sampah yang seember itu. Yang bikin gw ngeri adalah jumlah kantong plastik yang secara ga sadar gw kumpulin setiap hari selama dua tahun ngekost!

What you're seeing is 100++ plastic bags of different sizes, colours, & types.

All from my room.

You might say that I should throw these away and my problems will be miles away. Oh yes, miles away.

Miles away into a landfill (Tempat Pembuangan Akhir), where they would be buried deep into the ground, causing land pollution. Or dumped into the incinerator, causing air pollution.

Miles away where they will fly in the wind, get caught up somewhere like kites.

Miles away into the ocean, where they will float around, choking sea animals mistaking them as food.

 

itu di Indo loh. Pantai di Jawa.

So that's the reason why it is so hard for me to throw away these plastic bags. Tapi mau dipake buat apalagi kantong plastik beginian? Gw sebenernya uda pasrah aja mikirin plastik-plastik itu cuma bisa jadi kantong sampah, atau bungkus sepatu, dsb. Tapi ternyata, setelah browsing, ternyata kantong plastik bisa didaur ulang jadi craft project. Alhamdulillah halelluya puji Tuhan... This is gonna be my holiday project :)

plastiknya bisa dipotong jadi tali rafia dan dibikin kerajinan sulam.

Ternyata di luar negeri tali rafia disebut "plarn" (plastic yarn).

Dibentuk jadi manik-manik dan dibikin perhiasan

disulap jadi bunga :o

Dan sekarang gw pun cukup salut dengan toko-toko yang uda mulai distribusiin plastik dengan waktu degradasi 1-2 tahun kayak indomaret, alfamart, dll. Udah denger juga blom tentang enviplast? Enviplast adalah kantong plastik ramah lingkungan buatan indonesia, dari singkong. Kalaupun hancur, tidak akan merusak lingkungan,

Anyway guys, moral of the story, please throw your rubbish wisely!

Jadi pengen ambil hukum lingkungan :) doakan sukses!
